  • Alfred Health: Burns Unit The Victorian Adult Burns Service (VABS) at The Alfred hospital is the state-wide provider of burns care for all adults with complex major burn injuries in Victoria, as well as many people with less severe burns. In addition, they provide education and training for rural and regional clinicians involved in caring for burn-injured patients, and collaborate with community and industry groups on burn awareness campaigns and to provide first aid education and training. The website provides contact and referral information, resources and guidelines on many aspects of burn care.

  • Australian and New Zealand Burn Association Information, association activities and resources for members, health providers and the community. Referral criteria and links to burns centres in Australia and New Zealand.

  • Australian Association of Stomal Therapy Nurses The AASTN Inc Education and Professional Development Subcommittee has developed a series of patient education pamphlets for use by Stomal Therapy Nurses in the education of ostomates and others.

  • altAustralian Wound Management Association The AWMA is a multidisciplinary, non-profit association consisting of people who are committed to developing and improving wound management for all individuals through education, research, communication and networks.
  • AWMA VicAustralian Wound Management Association (Vic) The AWMA (Vic) was founded in 1990 and, together with wound management groups from each state and territory, is incorporated with the national body, the Australian Wound Management Association (AWMA). AWMA (Vic) is a multi-disciplinary group of health care professionals dedicated to the advancement of research based wound management. The multidisciplinary members of AWMA (Vic) include medical practitioners, nurses, podiatrists, physiotherapists, pharmacists and trade representatives. Attaining effective wound management through education and support for its members is the aim of AWMA (Vic).

  • Australian Podiatry Association of Victoria An independent, member organisation with a long history of service both to the profession and the community. Includes foot information, podiatrist locality guide and members area.

  • Australasian Podiatry Council The Council is a national body made up of affiliated state-based Associations and Podiatry New Zealand and provides professional representation for practising podiatrists across Australasia, as a service for both members and the public.

  • Australasian Wound and Tissue Repair Society The AW&TRS aims to promote knowledge and interchange between scientists, healthcare professionals, industry and other individuals that have an interest in wound healing and tissue repair.

  • alt altBurns Management Guidelines The guidelines are a joint initiative between the Victorian state wide burns services at The Alfred Hospital and The Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne. The aim of the guidelines are to provide direction to healthcare professionals and include information and resources on transfer and referral criteria, assessment, initial management, first aid and downloadable resources (posters, patient charts, patient information sheets, evidence summaries).

  • Hyperbaric Technicians and Nurses Association Information and news on activities of the HTNA in Australia. Contact and operational information on hyperbaric chambers operating in Australia and wider Oceanic.

  • Lymphoedema Association of Victoria The LAV Inc is a non-profit organisation working towards increased awareness, education, research and support for those with lymphoedema. 

  •   Lymphoedema Practitioners Education Group of Victoria LPEGV is a multidisciplinary group of healthcare professionals directly involved in the management of lymphoedema, raising awareness, promoting education and encouraging research

  • National Lymphoedema Practitioners Register The first national register of lymphoedema practitioners. The NLPR website offers varied resources for people living with lymphoedema, healthcare professionals and members.

  • Northern Sydney Central Coast Health (NSCCH) Wound Care Program Developed to inform and guide NSCCH clinicians to deliver the best care to patients, this excellent Australian resource including guidelines, policies and procedures, is shared to improve patient outcomes and continuity of care.

  • RCH Burns Unit Clinical Information Provides clinical information on the management of burns, emergency management and referral criteria for the Royal Childrens Hospital.

  • Therapeutic Goods Administration, Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing The TGA carries out a range of assessment and monitoring activities to ensure therapeutic goods available in Australia are of an acceptable standard with the aim of ensuring that the Australian community has access, within a reasonable time, to therapeutic advances. The Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods can be viewed on the TGA website.

  • World of Wounds A forum for healthcare practitioners and patients interested in finding more about wound care, find information, enrol in courses, talk to an expert or explore resources.
  • altWound Management Innovation CRC Established and supported under the Australian Government's Cooperative Research Centres Program, the WMI CRC will become a leading organisation for integrated and collaborative research into innovative wound care tools, systems and technologies. With about 60 researchers and a total budget of just over $100 million for the next 8 years provided by the Australian Government and participants, the WMI CRC will develop strategies, diagnostics and treatments to accelerate healing, prevent wound infection and reduce scar development in acute wounds. It will improve knowledge of key factors underlying chronic wound development, healing and effective care.

  • Wounds West WoundsWest is an innovative project that aims to improve wound prevention and management throughout Western Austrlia. The three key components of the project are advice, education and audit. The combination of these components will enable clinicians throughout the State to provide evidence-based wound care quickly and easily no matter where they are. The project is a partnership between WA Health, Silver Chain and Curtin University.

  • altANTT Poor standards of aseptic technique have proved to be a major cause of health care acquired infection. The Association for Safe Aseptic Practice (ASAP) oversees the development and dissemination of Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT), a unique, standardised approach to aseptic practice which has shown to significantly help reduce healthcare acquired infection. As a result, ANTT has become the de facto standard aseptic technique in the UK and is used widely internationally including Australia. 

  • Centre for Evidenced Based Medicine Provides workshops, resources and background information to healthcare professionals with research tools and educational material to download to support evidenced based healthcare

  • Cochrane Wounds Group (UK) The Cochrane Wounds Group is part of The Cochrane Collaboration, an international non-profit and independent research publishing organisation that aims to help people make well-informed decisions about healthcare. They produce, maintain and disseminate systematic reviews of the effects of interventions for the prevention and treatment of wounds and wound complications. 
  • DermNet NZ DermNet is the website of the New Zealand Dermatological Society Inc. whose aim is to present authoritative facts about the skin for consumers and health professionals. DermNet NZ provides extensive information about skin diseases, conditions, procedures and treatment.

  • Dermnet Skin Disease Image Atlas Dermnet is a web site that contains over 23,000 images of skin disease 

  • Dressings.org Dressings.org contains an exhaustive list of woundcare products, including the SMTL dressing datacards, technical papers and test reports

  • European Wound Management Association The EWMA works to promote the advancement of education and research into native epidemiology, pathology, diagnosis, prevention and management of wounds of all aetiologies. EWMA is an umbrella organisation linking wound management associations across Europe and a multidisciplinary group bringing together individuals and organisations interested in wound management. EWMA works to reach its objectives by being an educational resource, organising conferences, contributing to international projects related to wound management, actively supporting the implementation of existing knowledge within wound management and providing information on all aspects of wound management. 
  • European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel The EPUAP leads and supports all European countries in the efforts to prevent and treat pressure ulcers. Their aim is "to provide the relief of persons suffering from or at risk of pressure ulcers, in particular through research and the education of the public". The European and US National Pressure Ulcer Advisory panels (EPUAP and NPUAP) are have recently announced the release of their International Pressure Ulcer Guidelines.

  • International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot The IWGDF was set up to improve outcomes of diabetic foot problems and enhance communication and collaboration between the many health professsionals involved in diabetic foot care and those in a position to decide healthcare policy and provide funding. Their website contains much information on the activities of the IWGDF and information pertaining to the International Consensus on the Management and Prevention of the Diabetic Foot, which can be ordered from the website.
  • International Wound Infection Institute The IWII website contains many useful resources and online membership is open to anyone with a professional interest in wound infection control.

  • National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel The NPUAP serves as the authoritative voice for improved patient outcomes in pressure ulcer prevention and treatment through public policy, education and research. The European and US National Pressure Ulcer Advisory panels (EPUAP and NPUAP) are have recently announced the release of their International Pressure Ulcer Guidelines.

  • World Union of Wound Healing Societies The vision of the WUWHS is to improve wound care standards for patients, healthcare professional performance and to facilitate universal access in all health care systems. The WUWHS seeks to educate all health care professionals in interdisciplinary team approaches that deliver best practices for improved patient outcomes and disseminates the educational and training toolkits. The WUWHS co-ordinates a world wide exchange of information between wound societies and other relevant stakeholders including international and global agencies

  • Wound Healing Society (USA) The Society provides a forum for interaction among scientists, physicians, licensed practitioners, industrial representatives and government agencies. The Society is recognised among professionals and government agencies as one of the leading scientific organisations focused in the area of wound healing and publishes the leading journal in this area, Wound Repair and Regeneration.

  • Wounds International A wound management resource for clinicians worldwide including journal, newsletter, educational resources, clinical guidelines and topical resources.

  • Woundsite.info Excellent resource for providing wound management information and podcasts for health professionals. Good information for managers dealing with the economics of wound management and health professionals providing support for cost effective wound management.

  • Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses' Society An international nursing society to advance the practice and guide the delivery of healthcare to individuals with wounds, ostomies and incontinence. Financial members can access a range of online learning and literature resources.

  • www.vascular.co.nz This New Zealand based website is an information resource on conditions managed by vascular surgeons. Provides easy to understand, patient friendly information on many diagnostic and treatment aspects of general vascular diseases including arterial, venous and lymphoedema diseases.
