There are several training days planned for 2012 to date. The 2 topics presented are;

Nursing Management of Diabetes related Foot Disease Study

The is a full day program aimed at nurses who care for clients/residents with diabetes. The day cover the basic foot anatomy and physiology, assessment of Sensory Peripheral Neuropathy and Peripheral Arterial Disease, the Identifcation and assessment of foot deformity and the role of pressure off-loading. It has a practical session for pressure offloading and discusses the management strategies for clients/residents with high risk foot disease.  

Conservative Sharp Wound Debridement (CSWD)Workshops

These are a half day workshop that has a competency based written and clinical components. The day will cover the contraindications and indications for conservative sharp wound debridement and a practical session on how to safely perform CSWD. On successful completion each particpant will be award a competency certificate. The training dates and locations are listed below.

  • 24 February 2012 - Nursing Management of Diabetes Related Foot Disease
  • 6 March 2012 - CSWD competency workshop
  • 16 April 2012 - CSWD competency workshop 
  • 20 April 2012 -  Nursing Management of Diabetes Related Foot Disease 
  • 14 May 2012 - CSWD competency workshop

Whats new in Education??

There is one free registration to the Australian Wound Management Association National Conference held on 18 - 21 March 2012 in Sydney for each organisation/dept in the Gippland Regional Wound Project. Ask your Director of Nursing or Unit Manager for more details.
