Allied Health Service and Workforce Development

Service and workforce planning is important for the rural health sector which is facing signifcant challenges including increased demand for services from the ageing population and a shrinking supply of available workforce. The following resources are available to assist with workforce planning:

The Health Workforce Australia (HWA) website is a central hub to find information on all things health workforce related.  There is also capacity to register on this website and be provided with information updates.

Workforce redesign is a strategy which can be used by health services to build capacity of their existing health workforce by expanding roles and services.  For further information on workforce redesign utilise the following resources:

A system for managing the priority of clients for allied health services has also been developed through the Community Health Improvement Strategy.

Grampians Allied Health Recruitment and Retention

The Grampians Region of Choice program in consultation with the Grampians Advisory Committee has developed entry and exit surveys which are specific to the issues of the allied health workforce and the Grampians region.  These provide regional health and community health services with a rich source of information to assist in planning for allied health recruitment and retention.  Please click on these documents below:
