Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH)

Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH) is the nationally recognised organisation representing rural and remote allied health professionals.  SARRAH provides a number of services including: advocacy for rural and remote allied health professionals, scholarships, various professional development opportunities and a resource and training toolkit. 

Allied Health Professional Development

There are several Victorian Department of Health funded initiatives supporting the professional development of allied health professionals in rural and regional areas (including the Grampians region).   For information on these click the relevant links:

  • The CPD Works (formerly Statewide Allied Health Workforce Education Program) seeks to support the professional development needs of Victoria's allied health workforce by delivering presentations and workshops and making them available online. 
  • Mentoringworks provides separate mentoring programs for allied health professionals and allied health managers.  These programs promote professional development through mentoring and the mentor and mentee relationship.
  • The Victorian Healthcare Association (VHA) administer grants for continuing professional development, undergraduate study and post graduate study.  These grants are targeted to rural allied health professionals or students with a rural background. 

Grampians Region Allied Health Networks

  • The Wimmera Mallee Speech Pathologist Group is an informal network of local speech pathologists that meets on a quarterly basis.  The meetings provide opportunities to share information and discuss designated topics.  For further information contact Louise Mason, Chief Speech Pathologist, Wimmera Health Care Group, on phone (03) 53810101.
  • Ballarat Paediatric Allied Health Steering Committee has as its main aim improving collaboration and communication between local service providers to assist clients access paediatric allied health services.  For further information click on the latest newsletter BAHPS August newsletter (796.12 kB 2010-09-01 14:06:07)

Grampians Region Allied Health Research and Quality Improvement Projects

There are several allied health professionals in the region that have written various quality improvement and research papers.  These often reflect their areas of interest and / or specialist skill sets.  To access these doccuments click on the relevant links below.
