Emergency Care Resources

The aim of these resources is to provide a simple 'dot point' reference for specific emergency topics. For detailed information health professionals should refer to specialist texts and journals.

 Educational Guides and Learning Packages

The purpose of these guides/learning packages are to assist educators in the Grampians Region to design their own health service specific package for Registered Nurses Division 1 & 2 required to manage patients in an emergency situation. The aim of these guides is to provide generic information based on principles of care.

It is the responsibility of each individual practitioner and health service to ensure appropriate education for all equipment and that competency in the use of the equipment is maintained.

Grampians Regional Plan 2001 -  Reviewed 2005

icon RECCAC Plan Review Feb 2005 (2.25 MB)

The Review of Trauma and Emergency Services Victoria 1999 (ROTES) provided the impetus for the Regional Consultative Committee on Emergency and Critical Care Services Plan 2001 (Plan) for the Grampians Region. The Plan was developed after comprehensive and extensive data collection, consultation with health care providers, including private facilities, personnel within the Grampians Region and those involved with the Victorian State Trauma System (VSTS). The Plan identified existing services and provided a framework for the continued development of emergency and critical care services, which aimed to:

  1. Ensure the most timely, appropriate and skilled emergency and critical care services were available to all residents and visitors of the Grampians Region
  2. Ensure that all personnel providing emergency and critical care services had an increased level of confidence and competence in care delivery
  3. Ensure process and outcome evaluation
  4. Develop a framework for efficient resource allocation
