Continuing Nurse Education in the Grampians Region

The Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) program assists public health services and hospitals that provide acute health care to run professional development programs for nurses. Funding is provided by the Department of Health to eligible health services or hospitals for three year cycles of activity and monitoring/reporting. In the Grampians Region CNE funding is distributed to the following areas:

  • The Grampians 'Highway Model' CNE Program provides education to nurses up and down the Western Highway which runs through the centre of our region. Instead of doubling up on particular clinical topics at each of our 12 health services, we prioritise the topics and offer them at particular sites so staff from multiple health services can attend. This process makes best use of the CNE funds we receive from the State Government. Ballarat Health Services faciliatate the highway model on behalf Grampians health services. For further information on the highway model contact:

  • A proportion of the CNE funds are allocated to the Grampians eLearning (GeL) Program. This is vital component of the Grampians CNE program and is accessed not only by nurses but a wide variety of other health care and health service workers. For further information on the courses included in GeL click here. The GeL portal is located at http://glm.e3learning.com.au/.
  • The remaining CNE funds are allocated individually to the 12 health services that constitute the Grampians Region.
